On Thursday, AB Preservation hosted a town hall meeting featuring a panel discussion on three issues we believe are adversely impacting our quality of life and threatening our community natural assets:
- Tree canopy
- Variances approved by boards and commission
- Upholding our current ordinances
The featured panelists were Warren K. Anderson, Jr. Mr. Anderson is a beaches attorney, long-time environmental advocate and founder of the Public Trust Environmental Legal Institute of Florida. He discussed our tree canopy and the challenges we currently face with regard to protecting and preserving our trees.
Mr. Tom Hindle, an Atlantic Beach resident, who formerly served on the Community Development Board as an alternate, spoke about the issue of variances.
Mr. Scott Williams, Atlantic Beach Interim Public Works Director, discussed enforcement of our ordinances and, specifically, how pervious/impervious calculations are determined.
Adele Grage was crowded with Atlantic Beach residents who asked questions of the panel and spoke about their concerns.
