Commissioner Jimmy Hill will speak at Atlantic Beach Preservation's  program on the Mayport Rd Speed Limit and Public Safety on Tuesday, April 4th at the Community Presbyterian Church, Rm 13 at 6:30pm . Other speakers are former Commissioner Maria Mark and pedestrian safety advocate, Patricia Hazouri.

After a 12 year old boy was struck and killed at the intersection of Wonderwood Connector and A1A while walking to Mayport Middle School,  Hill brought the discussion of lowering the speed limit to the Atlantic Beach Commission.

"You can only see so many things happen before you have to act. This isn't the first time I've pressed for this. I've pressed for this on several occasions," Hill said. "The community is just as tired as I am of seeing these tragedies."

Former Commissioner Maria Mark will speak about information she has gathered from her conversations the traffic study engineer for DOT, Dr. Richard Baim.

Pedestrian safety advocate, Patricia Hazouri, will discuss areas that can be improved along the Mayport corridor.
